BELLA VISTA, HONDURAS

This school was constructed more than 20 years ago using adobe brick walls and a tin roof. Originally built as a one-room schoolhouse, it was later expanded by the local community with the addition of a second classroom to accommodate a growing number of students.

Over time, the school's structural integrity has deteriorated. Construction activity on the hillside behind the building compromised the foundation near the restroom, rendering the facility unsafe and unusable.

Today, 26 students attend classes at the school each day without access to a functioning restroom. During the rainy season, water leaks through numerous holes in the roof, dripping directly into the classrooms. In addition, the deteriorating walls present a significant safety hazard for both students and staff.

The restroom, located at the edge of a steep hillside behind the school, is no longer safe to use because the surrounding ground has become unstable, further highlighting the urgent need for repairs and improvements.

To provide these students with a safe and functional learning environment, we are seeking financial support to renovate and strengthen the school building, replace the damaged roof, stabilize the foundation, and construct a safe, accessible restroom. The total cost of this project is estimated at $15,000.

The local community has demonstrated an extraordinary commitment to this project. Residents who originally helped build and expand the school are once again prepared to contribute their time, labor, and local resources to make these improvements possible. Their willingness to participate reflects the value they place on education and their determination to provide a better future for their children.
